outgoing mail isue  (solved)
Had to help out some friends yesterday with their SBS2003. Internet and mail didn't work anymore. Rerun the internet/mail wizard and installed sp2 for exchange. Internet worked worked again and mails cam in. Later we noticed that they couldn't send mail anymore. You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. Rerun the wizard again and smarthost for smtp is correct any ideas? Thanks

Did the wizard complete successfully? Have you set it to use a smart host or route via DNS? If a smart host, does the smart host require authentication? Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

It's external email adresses (didn't check internal as there are only 2 users and they sit next to each other. They noticed it when replying to a mail, and new mails get the same NDR. Didn't change anything to the permissions, and used to work before installing sp2 and running the wizard (now twice) with success.

It's a smarthost from the ISP, always worked, and doesn't need authentication for SMTP. and used to work before installing sp2 and running the wizard (now twice) with success. Can't access the SBS at this moment, but will give the settings on monday when they are open again. Will also try to reinstall sp2 for exchange if possible, maybe something went wrong.

When it comes to ISPs, never presume anything. It is not unusual for ISP to change something without notification because they presume all customers are working in the same way - POP3 mailbox and Outlook Express. The authenticated session for POP3 also works for SMTP. Without the full NDR though it is hard to say what the problem is. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

There was no error nr in de NDR (that the user got), only the "You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. " Don't if I can see more on the server to see where it goes wrong all of a sudden. I'm in the IT support business, but not that familiar with server issues. The called me in for help as they clients didn't have internet or mail at all. Server had internet, so I ran the internet/mail wizard. Then I installed and run the best practice analyzer, in which I fixed most of the issues. One of the major ones was installing the SP2 for exchange. Users had internet again, and mail was comming in, but no mails got send. Not from any user (didn't check for internal mail, as theu rarely use it) Rerun the wizard again, checked the smart host and gave the SMTP setting a quick look for the thing I know. Whats the best way to check on the server to see where it goes wrong, to see if its a ISP problem, or user isue? Marc Thanks for helping me.
